This piece is stocked in American walnut utilizing parts from a German/Dutch Musket. The original flintlock is a German Potsdam style, the round German barrel is 41 & 5/8″ long and marked; N 124. All other fittings are German except the side plate, which is American made. The Butt plate tang was shortened and still has the Regimental marking; Col. Slype?? The butt stock has the initials W C carved into it as well as 2 X’s. At the rear of the side lock there is a US carved into the stock. This piece has the original ramrod as well as the bayonet with markings ( pictured below ).
