British 2ND Model Brown Bess Musket & Bayonet

This is a second model Brown Bess which was evidently used and modified by an American soldier during the Revolution. The comb of the stock has been shaved to better fit the “shooter’s” preference. The barrel was originally 42″ long but due to wear at the muzzle, now measures 41″. It has an early Tower/GR original flintlock with the one screw showing at the rear of the hammer. According to George Neumann’s   published works,  this is a musket from the 1764 – 1777 period. The piece has it’s original ramrod and bayonet. There are some figures or symbols carved into the butt stock, but I can not make out their meaning. It measures 57″ total length. The bayonet has the proper markings as shown in the photographs below.

American made Revolutionary War Musket

This piece being exhibited here, is beautifully made with an American walnut stock and all American made brass fittings, with a round, unmarked, 42″ barrel. The trigger guard and side plate are copied after the British 2nd model Brown Bess and the brass ramrod ferrules are all American made.  The unmarked lock is original flint and inside the lock are the initials, T S. It has the original steel ramrod as well as the original bayonet. This piece was thoroughly examined by George Neumann at the Connecticut Gun Show in 2006. His comment on this piece was that it was in a ” class all it’s own…a real gem and all American   made. It is in excellent condition.

American Revoltionary War Flintlock Pistol

SOLD

This pistol is American made. It is made of scavenged American and European parts. The stock is local walnut, barrel is probably French, lock is Dutch, the brass hardware looks like a mix. The barrel is .69 caliber, 7 & 5/8″ long and retains its original ramrod.  The trigger guard is very unique and can probably pin down a maker. It looks like a New York or New England piece.
